Have you ever hosted a live video on Instagram, sharing about a cause that is close to your heart and wished there was a way to interact with your audience and raise funds for the nonprofit? That is the case for me as well as many nonprofits we work with here at Blue River Digital.
Just a few days ago, Instagram introduced this great new feature to allow users to select a nonprofit while going live and raise funds for them in real-time, kind of like a telethon! You can even interact with the donors during your stream event seeing how many people have pledged to support your goal. The best part is, 100% of the donation goes to the nonprofit!
To use the Live Donations feature, select the camera icon in the upper left corner of your Instagram app, then select “Live” at the bottom of the screen. From there a heart-shaped icon will be available to select and then browse the list of available nonprofits. (If your non-profit or charitable organization is not listed, an administrator will have to apply for that status and can take 2-3 weeks to process. )
